How long before severe tooth abscess infection resolves with augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate)?

Variable: Short answer: 48-72 hours or more. Long answer: many advanced infections may never respond to antibiotics. Treatment through root canal therapy, drainage, or extraction should accelerate resolution of the infection. Time to go see your dentist or endodontist.

Depends on cause: Depends on too many factors including severity, cause, area, your general health and more factors. Some will never resolve. You must see your dentist to definitively treat the cause of your infection.

It doesn't : Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) doesn't resolve the abscess, it simply takes it out of the painful acute phase, making you more comfortable. That takes about 48 hr. The cause on the abscess must be addressed! see your dentist or an endodontist to resolve your problem!
