Will amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium 875 mg / 125 mg work for an abscessed wisdom tooth?

Wisdom tooth: Please see a dentist about your infected wisdom tooth. Do not self medicate with an antibiotic that was prescribed for something else.

Antibiotics: Antibiotics will control an infection, but do not remove the cause of the infection (your wisdom tooth). In the end, you'll still need to see a dentist, probably for an extraction. Why wait? You're only prolonging your suffering. Please call for an appointment.

See your dentist: You must treat the source of the infection, not only the symptoms. Therefore, you need to clean out the inside of the tooth to remove the bacteria which is the source of the infection. The antibiotics cannot reach the source of the infection. Ask your dentist for more information.
