Can Happen: If you have an IUD, either Copper or Mirena (levonorgestrel) (but especially with Mirena (levonorgestrel)), you can have some irregular unpredictable bleeding. It is usually nothing to be concerned about. In addition, 21 days does still fall within the range of normal for a menstrual cycle.

IUD: IUDs can cause dysfunctional uterine bleeding. Please call your GYN who placed the IUD to be evaluated.
