Ectopic pregnancy ? : IUD's do not protect against pregnancy outside the uterus. Pain on one side of lower abdomen is associated with possible ectopic pregnancy, so see your gyn physician for a serum HCG test to be certain, as this sort of pregnancy needs immediate attention.

Check preg test 1st : If you were having an ectopic pregnancy then your pregnancy test would be positive. This is the first step. If you are pregnant with an IUD then you will need to see a doctor urgently. If your test is not positive then you can schedule a routine evaluation to evaluate your pain.
