Ulcers, hoarseness.: There are some key symptoms. Oral/mouth cancers can have nonhealing ulcers that can be painful. Oropharyngeal lesions can have sore throat, otalgia. Laryngeal cancers can have hoarseness as an early sign. A lump/mass may also be a sign, but it may be something else. One must note that these cancers are in people over 50 and those who use a lot of alcohol and tobacco, including smokeless.
