Not definitive: The latest studies may support a link between simple carbohydrates and cancer, but this is very difficult to separate from the very significant increased risk of cancer caused by obesity. The human body requires protein and fat (essential amino acids and essential fatty acids) to live, but actually does not REQUIRE carbohydrates. However, most experts recommend eating lots of fresh vegetables.

Food and cancers: Complex carb foods are far healthier than simple, refined carb foods. Processed carbs have healthy elements processed away. Antioxidants- the color of fruit and veg - protect from cancer and aid health in other ways. Eat them daily. More is better. The food/cancer connection associates mostly with animal fats (saturated fats), refined carbs in excess, obesity, & lack of colon healthy fiber.
