Saw a doc about symptoms of leukemia, this doctors office did not have a lab.they ran a hemoglobin which came to 6.12, is that low?

Anemia: It is low, you do have severe anemia and may need blood transfusion(s). Cannot comment on leukemia. Would suggest not taking Ibuprofen and having iron studies.

Call doctor ASAP!: You are very anemic. Normal hemoglobin for a female is 11.5-16 range. While severe anemia can be a sign of leukemia, a much more common cause in a menstruating female is iron deficiency anemia. A teaspoon of blood( 5 ml) contains 5 mg of iron. So regular menses can deplete iron stores >>anemia. IF leukemia you may need a blood transfusion. IF iron deficiency anemia you need iron.

Had some stool testing. The fecal occult test in office was positive, but the fecal occult that was sent to the lab came back negative. Doc said she thought it might be a hemorrhoid & didn't seem concerned. Not sure if I should be concern or not.
