A member asked:

I had a cbc and everything was normal except my doc said my platelets were a little low i'm worried about leukemia i've had a blood spot on my lip for months. doc says its usually a lab problem.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No worry: Slightly low platelet counts are actually quite normal. Sometimes the platelets clump together a little bit prior to the automated machine counting them, so a clump of 10 platelets may count as 1-2. Leukemia is a disease that affects your white blood cells, and these are normal on your cbc, so there is no reason to worry about that. Enjoy the spring and please do not dwell on isolated lab number.
