Chronic blood loss ,: If you are bleeding slowly ,the chronic bleed will cause anemia ,hence the low Hb and Hct and elevated platelets. A work up for occult bleeding ,most commonly from GI tract would be very helpful.

Thrombocytopenia: It means you could be easily. There are different levels of low platelets. Depending on how low, your overall health, your medications, comorbid medical condition your doctor will determine the proper treatment. Normal level is >150, 000. Most people don't have problems if above 100, 000. Below 100, 000 needs more attention.

They are involved in fighting infection. Platelets are involvedin clotting the blood. These cells are much smaller than the other blood cells. If low, erythrocytes and platelets can be transfused. They all look different microscopically.
