Different approach: It is probably a better idea to do things in a different order - lean out first, then build muscle. With a height of 5'6", you may want to first aim for about a 50lbs gradual weight loss, with the easiest method being cutting the amount of whatever you usually eat in half. You may only require 1500 kcal per day, depending on your activity level. Work with your doctor on this and you'll see results
