A member asked:

I was referred to a hematologist because of low wbc's and anemia. does this mean they think i have cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Specialist for Blood: Hematologists are specialists for blood disorders which can be benign or Malignant. A detailed CBC(complete blood count) is the first test to show the nature of the problem....so send us the results of your blood counts and we can address your question better. Low counts can be caused by many different diseases, cancer can be one cause for low production of blood cells, causing low counts.
