A member asked:

Iron binding cap - 383, uibc - 347, iron - 36, iron saturation - 9, ferritin - 58, folate (serum) - 5.9 iron serum has been low in the past. dr said my iron saturation is very low and wants me to see a hematologist. should i be concerned? anemia?

I would not assume this is something bad from a referral. Some docs just don't want to miss anything, ever, and do referrals when they don't consider this within the normal range of simple anemia they treat. Good luck.

There is no harm in seeing a hematologist. Ask her/him if you should be on oral iron and multivitamin supplementation.
