Possible: Muscular dystrophy or inherited mitochondrial disorders are possible. A pediatric neurologist would be the most valuable consultant at this point. Best wishes

? Muscle biopsy: You may need more details but this does sound like a type of muscular dystrophy. If you are trying to sort through this with your family asking for a conference with the diagnosing physician might help. So sorry...all the best with this difficult problem.
