Very complex: Whether to remove hardware following scoliosis surgery is a very complex question, let alone whether it should be done less than a year after initial surgery. The biggest issue is whether complete healing has taken place indicating you are at the maximum point of benefit. As always there are the usual surgical risks: infection, bleeding, paralysis, anesthesia, death. Need careful specialist eval.

Failure of fusion: The hardware is placed to keep the spine stabilized while the bone fusion heals. If the hardware is removed too soon, then the fusion could fail to heal like planned, possibly resulting in loss of alignment and/or pain.
