Rehab: you need to have xrays first. if these are negative you need to be immobilized with a brace or even a cast. you need to do aggressive strengthening. usually this solves problem. if continues to recur surgery can even be an option

Brace has pros/cons: you need really good ankle proprioception & ligament strengthening exercises & can use a lace up brace for the rolling/instability.The issues w/bracing long term are underuse that can lead to weakness of the muscle.Thus ankle muscle strengthening(i.e. gastroc work,standing on one leg, balance & catch exercises, 1 leg mini squat w/incorporation of wobble board is appropriate, then wean off brace
