Diagnosis difficult: Myocarditis is a difficult diagnosis to make, since it can mimic other diseases, & mistakenly be "ruled out" as a cause of disease. Heart biopsy is only way to verify its suspicion, but procedure itself may be more risky than its worth. In addition, biopsy can miss patches of myocarditis, giving false reassurance that it's absent. Many types of myocarditis, idiopathic & viral most common.
