Knee pain: Consider arthritis, meniscal tear, synovitis, contusion, hematoma, sprain, strain, etc. Hard to say without exam. See orthopedic surgeon if not better.

? arthrtis: Swelling could be due to a torn meniscus, arthritis, or bursitis around the knee. The steroids reduce swelling and inflammation, but do not solve the underlying cause. If the steroids do not help, then you may need further evaluation
