Fibroids: Broadly speaking, there are 2 general types of sequences on MRI...called T1and T2. Fibroids are usually dark on both, cysts are dark on T1 and bright on T2. Fibroids usually have non uniform or heterogenous signal, cysts more uniform/homogeneous. Fibroids originate from the uterus, cysts usually from ovaries.
