Fibroid Mass: A fibroid is also known as a leiomyoma & it's a type of uterine mass. An ultrasound is a good way to identify these & measure size. We usually reserve MRI for those patients that need more precise information (for example, in case of myomectomy & fertility preservation). Discuss your results with your doc for the next step in your evaluation. An MRI is rarely needed.

You need to have you: Your pictures reviewed by your doctor. Sometimes the tech is a doctor. So i would not say the tech was wrong. In fact an ultrasound is a good test but can clearly misinterpret some findings in the uterus. For instance it can be very hard to see a submucosal fibroid and its actual anatomy in relation to the uterine wall and junctional zone. Mri is more detailed. Ask your doctor what is needed.
