Hard to say: Without clinical exam and scans it is hard to tell what can be done, anterior disk displacement can be treated with or without surgery depending on the symptoms, reducing the displacement or recapturing the disk can be difficult and surgery can help. Discuss the findings with your TMJ specialist before going into surgery.

Beaking: Sometimes jaw joint damage can result in anatomic change in the shape of the condyle where the top wears away and the condyles appear pointed. This appearance is sometimes called Beaking, and indicates disc displacement. The displacement results in the anatomic change, not the other way around. Do resolve means first determining what caused the displacement (often malocclusion).

See OFP specialist : Orofacial pain specialists are experts in TMJ disorders. TMD should be viewed as a group of related conditions that can be divided into disorders related to the muscles of mastication and those emanating from the TMJ. Reverse: A disk displacement can affect the shape of the condyle through remodeling. The best approach is to have an evaluation and treatment by a TMJ expert.
