Recommendation: Suggest you get referral to Oral Surgeon, as your description raises concerns about extensive degeneration of the joint, and you may require a repair procedure. You may even want two opinions on how to manage.

Many Options: The TMJ is a very complicated and delicate joint. There are many problems which can affect it, and treatment options vary considerably. Many different approaches can lead to success when treating your jaw joints, and there is no one approach (such as neuromuscular) which works 100% of the time. Your dentist or oral surgeon will have to explain the options and offer a solution specifically for you.

DJD: You report what may best be described as Degenerative Joint Disease. Please see anOral Surgeon. Neuromuscular Dentistry has limited applicability, and your description of your joint does not suggest that it would be a successful treatment path for you.
