Painful Root Canal: Root canal treatment is performed to remove the source of an infected tooth pulp. Inflammation and infection in the area around the tooth treated may take a while to heal though sometimes will never completely be eliminated. Give the tooth about two weeks to be symptom free or check with the dentist for signs of complications.

Retreat: Are you on antibiotics? Anti-inflammatory medication? Your root canal doctor will be able to help you out with the pain. It may last a few days, especially if it is a bad flare up.

Pain: Should begin easing off about now. Are you taking antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, analgesics? Have you seen a specialist Endodontist?
