Tooth is infected & needs root canal. soonest appointment they have is 2 weeks away so they put me on amoxicillin. ive been on it 3 times a day for 4 days now. tooth is hurting worse today & my cheek looks slightly swollen. what do i do?

You have a bad infection. There is a simple surgical principle which should guide you. "Never let the sun go down on undrained puss!" Sometimes you just need to take the next step and call a different dentist who can help you right away. Even though it may cost more you will be better off i the long run. Puss must be drained now!

You pick up the phone, call your Dentist, and explain your situation. You may need a change of antibiotic and/or a sooner appointment. If your Dentist cannot accommodate you, perhaps he/she can refer you to a specialist Endodontist.
