Possibly: Symptomatic tears in the meniscus would usually cause pain along the joint line, including mechanical symptoms such as catching, locking, or buckling. Patellofemoral syndrome is very common and can also cause pain referring to the joint line. Without mechanical symptoms, the first line of treatment would be rehab, either independently or with a physical therapist.

Knee pain: I assume that an mri showed the small meniscus tears. Your symptoms suggest that they can be handled by noninvasive treatment at this time. Antiinflammatories and physical therapy are probably recommended by your orthopedic surgeon.
