Patellofemoral pain: With your age and no history of injury and w/out any other information or a physical examination the most likely cause of your pain is your kneecap( patellofemoral). The cartilage beneath your kneecap can soften and cause pain esp. W/stair climbing , stair master , lunges, squats , or just keeping your knees bent for a period of time( sitting in an airplane, church etc).Anatomy, weight, jt. Laxity.

Possible fluid : Pf pain is classically felt when straighten out the knee from a bent position(coming out of a car or a chair or going downstairs, times when the joint experiences the most pressure. Tightness with bending the knee can occur but it also can be a sign of fluid in the knee and does not respond to stretching (infrapatella tendonitis is felt when bending knee and resolves with stretching).
