A member asked:

If diagnosed with a benign tumor of the tonsil and i am 49 years old, how often should i see my ent doctor in follow up to the discovery of the tumor?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Every 6 months: I am not sure which tumors of the tonsil are benign. The most common problem is inflammation, followed by tumors such as lymphoma or squamous Ca both of which are malignant. It is possible to have a minor salivary tumor in that region which is benign but one has to make sure that if there is a mass there that a significant bx was taken. You should be check 4 mo. followed by every 6 months.
