Full exam: L1 burst fracture happen either related to trauma or low bone density (compression fracture). If trauma, usually a fall from a height. They are often seen in patients with calcaneus fx. A complete neuro exam including rectal tome should be done to rule out spinal cord injury as the spinal cord ends at this level. CT scan is helpful to understand the fracture.
