A member asked:

Got results from biopsy and sent for 2nd opinion- derm says mole was "funny" looking with a lot of benign cells. what does this mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Clinical impression: My impression is that your dermatologist examined the mole and believed it was suspicious looking, that is, it had the characteristics of a cancer. A biopsy is done to establish a tissue diagnosis. The first pathology report did not confirm any cancer, so I suspect your doctor wanted assurance that the mole was benign, and asked for a second opinion.
