A member asked:

I have a class 1 malocclusion. how long will it take braces to fix this?

15-24 months: That said, no two people are alike. Orthodontic treatment is a service, not a commodity. Your Class I Malocclusion may be entirely different from your neighbor's Class I Malocclusion, and therefore treatment will differ. See an Orthodontic Specialist for the answer that pertains to you alone. Good luck.

Depends: there are too many variables that can impact your treatment length for ANYONE on this site to give you an accurate assessment of your treatment time. Discuss with an orthodontist during a free consult

All depends: No orthodontic specailist can answer this question knowing only your molars come together in a specific orientation. Are your teeth crowded? Overbite? posterior crossbite? W/o complete ortho records, it is impossible to make any educated statement regarding how long it will take. An ortho specialist needs these records to determine tx lenght.

15-18 month: With modern orthodontic technology overall treatment times have decreased substantially. Class 1 malocclusion is the most common.

It depends: A Class I malocclusion can be corrected in as little as 6 months in some cases and as much as 2 years. Factors such as amount of crowding (crooked teeth) will be the main determinant.

It really depends: It depends on a whole lot of factors. How crowded or spaced are your teeth? Do you have a cross bite or an open bite? Are your gums & teeth healthy? Do you have harmful habits? These questions and others need to be answered by an orthodontist before he or she can give you an accurate estimate of treatment time.
