Usually you are put on weekly dose of 50, 000 units vitamin d2 if deficient, for 8-12 weeks, then levels re-check. Insurance is now denying payment for testing vitamin d levels. Vit D levels: Your levels are low, but not extremely low. Vit d 50000 units weekly for 6 weeks is a good and reliable regimen that works well. However, if you were to take 2000 units per day, which is commonly in otc vitamin preps, you will likely get your level up in 6 months. You may need to continue taking a supplement long term if you don't get out in the sun and eat little fish/dairy.
