Yes, it depends...: Are you talking about changing from normal to happy or from depressed to happy? Many supplements/herbs can lift one's spirits, ranging from chocolate to herbs like rhodiola, st. John's wort & medical marijuana. Amino acids like tryptophan & tyrosine can help. Vit. D often helps, and other vits (esp. B's) will help if one is deficient (which is common).
