Up to 3 mos: May take up to 3 mos to get to a stable level. You probably only need 2000 units/day to get into a normal level.

Need to get lab test: Many of my patients need considerably more than 2000 iu of vit d3 to reach therapeutic levels. It all depends at the level you start at and your response to the dosing. I have had patients who took 35000 to 5000 iu fo several weeks and still did not get to the therapeutic level, .
