HTN: Blood pressure tends to increase at higher elevations, so it’s best to get blood pressure under control and make a plan with your doctor for changing your medications if your pressure increases after moving to high altitude.

Possibly.: Stress hormones tend to be higher and blood pressure also tends to rise at higher altitudes. Therefore, one should ask ones physician about preparing to increase ones BP medications as needed. Purchase an automatic arm-cuff type BP machine; check BP sitting and standing each morning and keep a log to share with ones doctor or other health care provider.
