93% survive 2 years: Based on data from United States Renal Data System (http://www.usrds.org) for 2010-2012 there is a 6.7% 2 year mortality after starting home peritoneal dialysis ( 9.9% 2 year mortality for home hemodilaysis). This compares to 2 year mortality of 12.3 % for in center hemodialysis. It should be emphasized that mortality after kidney transplant at 2 years is only 1.8%. Diabetes increases risk.
