A member asked:

Please tell me if there are any diseases that cause multiple organ failure that won't show up in normal blood work?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Won't need labs: Multiple organ failure is obvious on history and physical exam. Subtle illnesses that routine labs won't spot include the porphyrias, Addison's, chronic carbon monoxide, pheo, parasomnias, Crohn's, syphilis, Lyme, arsenic (any enemies?), lupus, some myopathies & vasculitides, sleep apnea, some nutritional deficiencies, early celiac sprue, Simmonds', others.
