Ask the dentist: Ask the dentist who made them for you. In some cases, this can be done without jeopardizing the looks or the integrity of the veneers. In other cases, it might effect the strength, the bond, and the natural look if it removes the translucent edge in its entirety. You might just not be used to the change yet. Discuss these issues with your own dentist.

Proportionality: I'm sure your Dentist tried to recreate the best shape and size possible for your restorations. Shortening them may adversely affect their length-width proportionality. Please talk your concerns over with your Dentist.

It is common for veneers to be made a bit too long and adjustment by the dentist is possible in most cases without a total remake. In some cases a longer look provides a more youthful appearance but going too far turns a human into a rabbit. If your dentist disagrees seek a second opinion.
