Yes: Deep anesthesia is not needed. All that is required is that the area by pain free so that the appendix can easily be removed. This would probably be done by laparoscopic surgery with the anesthesiologist using a caudal anesthetic, similar to a spinal, where an anesthetic agent is given by needle to the tissue around the spinal cord numbing the lower belly wall.
