Not much you can do: If your thyroid gland has failed, there is not much you can do. If the cause is hashimoto's thyroiditis, it is usually progressive and you become hypothyroid forever (although thyroid levels can go up/down for a while initially). There is a form of "subacute thyroiditis" which can make you hypo transiently, and then you recover.
