Probably cannot: Thyroidectomy followed by radioactive iodine ablation is usually done for thyroid cancer. Ask your doctor for your diagnosis and why you were treated. But if you have had a total or near total thyroidectomy followed by ablation, you will need thyroid supplements your whole life.

You can't: There is no way to regrow a thyroid once it has been removed and any remnants killed off with the radioactive iodine treatment. Sorry. Please do keep taking your thyroid hormones tablets.
