I had a luumber puncture yesterday and today i have the worst nerve pain in my lower back radiating down my bum. worse with standing. will this go away? she did say she was close to the nerves.

Give it some time: It is not uncommon that people experience back pain, nerve pain or headache after lumbar puncture. Most of it will go away in few days. You can ask your doctor for pain medications if it is unbearable.

See neurologist: This may be post-spinal tap discomfort, but you may also have acute ssh is a rare complication of lumbar puncture. This diagnosis must be considered when severe leg pain and disproportional to the procedure with neurological deterioration. Mri is the imaging modality of choice to assist in the differential diagnosis of this problem. High index of suspicion is necessary to prevent progression.
