AP neck xray: Plain film views can give some information, but the standard is direct vision of the airway (laryngoscopy and bronchoscopy). These are bit more involved for the patient than a plain film, but if symptoms are severe, they are warranted.

Not reliable : narrowing of the subglottic area may be genetic or acquired. This condition may involve soft tissue scarring, cartilage, or combination of both. CT and MRI do not reliably image the cartilage of the airway, thus are not conclusive. The best evaluation method is history taken and direct laryngoscopy with palpation. See a neck and head surgeon for more information and treatment options.
