A member asked:

What are the causes of chronic cystitis? is it just caused by uti?...if so, is this due to an anatomical problem where bacteria is stuck somewhere?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

"itis"=inflammation: "cystitis" means that you have inflammation or an infection in the bladder. Most commonly it will be because of a bacterial infection. You can soldo have a fungal (yeast) or viral infection; or you could just have inflammation (eg secondary to radiation therapy or overuse). Ic is a chronic inflammation in the bladder presumed secondary to the loss of bladder lining ("protection"). See a urologist.
