A member asked:

Can you tell me if a uti is not caused by bacteria or fungus, then what could the problem be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cystitis : Inflammation of the bladder lining can remain after successful elimination of the causative bacteria / organism. It can also occur from non-infectious causes, such as concentrated bladder irritants (ie. Caffeine, nicotine, excess spices) in the setting of dehydration. This inflammation can cause symptoms indistinguishable from a uti.
