Difficult question: I'm sorry for the difficult situation you face. The older one is the more difficult it is to recover from serious illness including heart attacks, strokes, and being in a coma. Your doctor's may have discussed comfort care if the outcome was deemed poor. If the patient has advanced directives, think about their wishes. Request to have a palliative care specialist involved in your case also.
