LOTS and LOTS: Allows them to spend their last months, weeks, or days with the best possible quality of life and dignity, often in their own homes and with their families. It is not "the last rites" before someone dies, as many think. These folks do god's work with patients and are often under appreciated or under utilized. If you know a hospice worker, thank them for their work.

Family too: Hospice is an end of life care service that comes along side patient and family to relieve anxiety, pain, suffering and grief. They are the compassionate bridge to a dignified life's end, no matter the cause. Much like any service you may choose very active involvement on their part or keep them at arms length until you feel the need for their help.
