In women it is important to have a pelvic exam when it is located in the lower abdominal area.Check for any vaginal discharge, abnormal bleeding, pain during sex. Abdominal pain per se may be related to constipation, appendicitis, colitis. It all depends what other symptoms you have. If persistent or worse get seen by your pcp.
