Return to surgeon: Who removed tooth to evaluate if you need further treatment or an antibiotic. It may be healing within normal lummis depending on the difficulty of the extraction but you need ţ let a dental professional see it to be sure.

Dry Socket: Leave it alone and do not attempt to dislodge it! you are describing the clot that has formed and the beginning of the healing process. If you remove it or forcibly spit it out, a dry socket will form which is painful and will definitely interfere with "normal" healing and healing time. Rinse with warm salt water often to reduce the swelling and let it trickle out of your mouth afterwards!
