Max Swelling: In my practice I advise my patients that the swelling following surgery may continue to increase in size for the first two to three days and will usually reach its maximum by the third day. Typically the swelling will start to resolve after the third day. If you are concerned about the possibility of a fractured jaw, the surgeon performing your surgery would be the best person to address this.
