Check it out: If you've had any type of facial pain on one side with swelling you should consult your dds for problems involving your wisdom tooth if one is present in the area or under the skin in the area. They can definitely cause facial pain and swelling especially if partially erupted or trying to cut through the skin. Check with your dds again, if they ignore it find one that will listen to you. Good luck.

Facial pain: You should see a periodontist or oral surgeon let them find where the facial pain is coming from if you have a palatal cyst or any other growth get rid of it also have them rule out tmjoint pain as a cause.

See doc: With atypical facial pain, you would not see swelling. You may have an infection, or worse a tumor. See an ENT doc or oral surgeon asap.
