Yes you should: Have the gallbladder removed. Small polyps (<1 cm) can be watched. Anything bigger should be removed to be sure it is not a cancer. However, most polyps, even 3cm ones , are simply benign growths. If it is causing pain, then that is yet another reason to remove it.

Gallbladder polyp: A polyp in the gallbladder does not mean your gallbladder should be removed. Other conditions associated with biliary pain, like chronic cholecystitis, gallstones, may lead to a recommendation for gallbladder removal. Okay to talk to your doc about gallbladder disease. Usually a gallbladder polyp is reimaged in 6 to 12 months, to see if it is growing. Be well.

Polyp no concern: It is very unlikely that a 3 mm polyp could cause pain. Gall bladder pain is caused by stones blocking the duct, inflammation (cholecystitis) or biliary dyskinesia or spasm. Those are reasons to have your gall bladder removed, not a 3 mm polyp unless it is growing.
